Description

The George Hotel, located at 103 South Drumlanrig Street in Thornhill, is an earlier 18th century building. It features two storeys and three bays, and now forms part of the south range of the hotel block. The exterior is constructed of coursed square rubble with ashlar dressings, all of which are painted. The central entrance has a pilastered doorpiece with a panelled door and a fanlight above. The windows are sash style, with plate glass on the ground floor and 12 panes above. Additional architectural details include an eaves and lintel band, straight skews, end stacks, and a slate roof. There is also a rear wing.
