Buccleuch And Queensberry Arms Hotel, West Morton Street, Thornhill

The Buccleuch and Queensberry Arms Hotel is a re-modelled building from the mid-19th century, which incorporates elements from a late 18th or early 19th century structure. It is a two-storey and attic hotel located on a corner, featuring a symmetrical five-bay elevation facing Drumlanrig Street and a six-bay wing along West Morton Street. The exterior is constructed of pink stugged ashlar coursers with polished dressings and includes a painted band course between the floors.

On the east elevation, there is an arched central door that is sheltered by a late 19th-century timber canopy supported by consoles, with a valance and iron brackets above. The building has 12-pane sash windows throughout and features gabled wall-head dormers, saw-toothed skews, and end stacks. The rear wing includes a bar on the right and two wall-head dormers on the left. The roofs are slate, and the rear elevations are asymmetrical, with a single-storey piend-roofed range that has two tall stacks on ramped plinths.
