Description

63 South Drumlanrig Street in Thornhill is an earlier to mid-19th century building that serves as both a bank and a bank house. It stands two storeys high and features a near symmetrical arrangement with seven bays. The exterior is made of droved red ashlar with polished dressings. There are two doorways, and the structure essentially consists of two three-bay units, with an additional bay to the north that includes a gated pend. Each unit has a Roman Doric-columned porch, a panelled door with a fanlight, and the outer bays are gabled with two-storey canted windows. The building has four-pane sash windows, a cornice, a blocking course, and coped end and axial stacks, topped with a slate roof. Simple iron railings line the pavement, set on low coping.
