Description

The Market Cross on Drumlanrig Street in Thornhill was possibly designed by James Smith and was erected in 1714. It is made of red ashlar stone and features a single fluted Ionic column with a swagged capital that supports a lead figure of Pegasus. The column is raised on a panelled octagonal drum base and a stepped plinth.
