Description
The Queen's Hotel, located at 1 Montgomerie Street in Girvan, is an early 19th-century building featuring two storeys and an attic, with four unequal bays. The exterior is constructed of painted squared rubble, accented by contrasting painted ashlar margins, a plinth, and a band course. The central entrance is marked by a pilastered door topped with a cornice, a blocking course, and a projecting iron lamp bracket. A band course runs between the ground and first floors, and there is a secondary door set at a right canted angle. The windows are 12-pane sashes, although the lower sashes on the ground floor have been altered. The building has an eaves cornice, two piended dormers, and one central modern box dormer. The straight skews are complemented by end stacks, although one stack is missing, and the roof is covered with slate. Additionally, there is a range of two-storey service buildings located at the rear.
