Alma Hotel, 4-6 Alma Place, Laurencekirk

The Alma Hotel, located at 4-6 Alma Place in Laurencekirk, is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey and attic building featuring six bays and classical detailing. The exterior is finished with painted stugged coursers and ashlar dressings, topped with a slate roof.

The roof is adorned with three ashlar roof dividers that include skew blocks, and there are three corniced ashlar ridge stacks, although only one remains intact. A band course runs along the first floor and eaves. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, with canted 12-pane dormers that have four-pane side lights and piended roofs.

On the front elevation, there is a central four-panelled door with an astragalled fanlight, flanked by narrow four-pane side lights. To the left and right of the entrance are additional windows. A depressed arch pend entrance is located at the far left, with a window and another four-panelled door at the far right. The first floor features seven windows and four dormers. The interior has not been seen.
