Description
The Warwick Arms Hotel, located at 17 High Street, is a late 18th-century building featuring a three-storey, five-window symmetrical facade made of ashlar stone. All openings are set in plain reveals, with sash windows that include glazing bars and cased frames. The ground floor has three-light windows, and the central bay of the upper floors also features three-light windows. The ground floor openings and the central window on the first floor have segmental, panelled tympana. The entrance has a reeded doorcase within plain reveals, flanked by sidelights and topped with a large fanlight. The building has a projecting plinth and a string course that continues from the first-floor window sills. A moulded cornice with a blocking course steps up over the central bay. It is reputed to contain a panelled room in the manager's quarters. The Warwick Arms Hotel is part of a group of listed buildings on the south side of High Street.
