North Parish Church, Montgomerie Street, Girvan

North Parish Church, located on Montgomerie Street in Girvan, was built in 1883 by W G Rowan to replace the Old Kirk in Church Square. The church is designed in the Early English Gothic style and constructed from snecked red sandstone with polished dressings. It features a nave with north and south aisles and shallow transepts, along with a tower topped by a tall spire at the southwest corner.

The central entrance is a pointed arch with moulded reveals and nook shafts set within a shallow gabled projection. Above the entrance, there is a tall three-light geometric traceried window that rises into the gable head. The nave is supported by stepped buttresses that rise to octagonal turrets with conical roofs. The north aisle includes a gabled and stepped buttress leading to a three-stage tower, which has angle buttresses capped by octagonal pinnacles that embrace the tall facetted spire. Lucarnes are positioned between the pinnacles at the base of the spire and on alternate faces above.

Inside, the church has a conventional seating plan, featuring a well-crafted panelled gallery balustrade, decorative roof trusses, a painted frieze, and stars on the ceiling.
