Description

The Bay Hotel, located at numbers 35-37, is an asymmetrical building dating from the 19th century. It features three storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a roughcast front that has a channelled, part-rusticated ground floor. The outer bays are accentuated by pilaster strips and a cill band on the first floor. The building is topped with a slate roof, complemented by rubble chimney stacks and wide bracket eaves. Pitched roof dormers, some of which are slate hung, include bargeboards. The windows consist of sash and casement types in the attic, with horned sash windows below. Full height bay windows are present, except for the central and right-hand entrance bays, which feature architraves, and one central window that is blocked. The entrances are half-glazed doors, with a half-glazed porch on the left side.

The right side of the building is finished in cement render, and a boarded door provides access to a side passage. The rear includes small pane sash windows and a modern brick cross range. Inside, some contemporary details have been retained.
