Description

43 Marine Terrace is a group of early 19th-century buildings featuring four stories and a basement, with two-window stucco fronts. The building at No. 45 has rusticated quoins, while Nos. 43 and 45 have a channelled ground floor. They are topped with slate roofs and have bracket eaves, along with red and stock brick chimney stacks. Full-height splayed bay windows with cornices were added around 1900, and the buildings feature horned sash glazing. Nos. 43 and 44 have bowed doorcases adorned with a triglyph entablature and fluted columns, with panelled reveals and a panelled and glazed door with a traceried fanlight at No. 43. A similar porch once existed at No. 45 but has been replaced by a half-glazed porch. No. 44 features an Art Deco-style half-glazed door. Both Nos. 43 and 44 retain their original interlace railings at the front.

The rear of the building is constructed of rubble and cement render, with mainly small pane sash windows. Inside, the property retains foliage and dentil cornices, bolection moulded doorcases, reed and bobbin dado rails, panelled doors, and the original staircase.
