Description
Nos 53 and 55 on Bell Street are early 19th century buildings featuring a facade with a bracketed, moulded wooden eaves cornice and a slate roof. The facade above the ground floor is finished in stucco with rusticated quoins. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic and have five windows, which are sash windows with glazing bars set in moulded architraves. The ground floor includes three plain modern shop windows that are integrated into the brickwork. These properties, along with Nos 45, 45A, and 47, and Nos 53 to 81 (odd), form a group with Nos 44 to 52 (even) and Nos 60 to 64 (even) across the street, as well as with No 2 New Street.
