Description

No. 61 Bell Street is a building dating from the 16th century or earlier. It features one bay and a cross wing under a gable end. The upper storey is finished in stucco with a timber-framed gable and likely retains its original barge boards. The roof is tiled, and the building stands two storeys high with two windows that have sliding casements. There is a small 19th-century shop front that includes a cornice, pilasters, end stops, and a moulded window frame, although no glazing bars remain. A side door is also present. This property is part of a group that includes Nos. 45, 45A, and 47, as well as Nos. 53 to 81 (odd) and Nos. 44 to 52 (even) opposite, along with No. 2 New Street.
