Description
52 Bell Street is a building dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a facade made of painted brick with a parapet that has three brick bands. The roof is not visible. The building is two storeys high and has four windows, one of which is blank. The windows are sashes with glazing bars. The ground floor has a shop front that has been altered in the 19th century and extends across the entire width of the building. There is a cornice and entablature with an architrave and pilasters, along with panelling below the shop windows. The glazing and door have also been altered, but two large cast iron pillars remain centrally located in front of the shop windows.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 44 to 52 (even) and Nos 60 to 64 (even), along with Nos 45, 45A, and 47, and Nos 53 to 81 (odd) opposite, as well as No 2 New Street.
