Crown Hotel, High Street, Langholm

The Crown Hotel, located on High Street in Langholm, is an early 19th-century building that incorporates earlier structural elements. It consists of two adjoining parallel ranges that share a thick spine wall. The hotel stands three storeys tall and features three bays. The exterior is rendered, with ashlar margins, raised quoins, and a central doorcase that is topped with a pediment. To the right of the central entrance, there is a door set in a canted angle, likely added in the early 20th century, which is supported above by corbelling. The doorpiece includes pilasters adorned with urn ornaments at the capitals, and the pediment has ramped raking members. A large decorative wrought-iron lamp bracket is present, along with two smaller brackets above. The building has sash windows, with 12-pane glazing on the ground floor (including some modern spun glass panels) and 4-pane glazing on the upper floors. Additional architectural features include an eaves course, cornice, end stacks, and a double-ridged slate roof.

Inside, there is a central cantilevered stone stair with decorative cast-iron balusters, and panelled doors set within architraves.
