Townhead House, 11 High Street, Langholm

Townhead House is a two-storey house, likely built in the 1830s or 1840s, located at 11 High Street in Langholm, facing the roadway of Townhead Bridge. The house features four bays, arranged as three plus one, and is constructed from green whinstone rubble, accented with contrasting long and short worked grey whinstone dressings. The central entrance consists of a panelled door set within a cavetto reveal, topped with a decorative fanlight, cornice, and fluted frieze adorned with urn ornamentation. There is a second door in the fourth bay, which was probably originally a pend but now has a modern door and is incorporated as part of the house. The property has sash windows throughout, featuring a four-pane glazing pattern, with the first-floor margins linked to an eaves band. The house is capped with a slated roof that is piended at the north end, and it has corniced end stacks.
