Clinthead, Townhead, Langholm

Clinthead is a symmetrical three-bay villa built around 1820 or 1830, featuring classical details. It stands two storeys high on the slope of a river bank, with the east elevation facing High Street designed to appear as a single storey, complemented by a sunk rusticated basement made of ashlar stone.

The east elevation includes architraved openings, with steps and a platform leading to a central recessed panelled door. The flank elevations also consist of three bays. The west elevation features a central door flanked by sidelights, with a timber-mullioned window above. The villa has sash windows, primarily with an 8-pane glazing pattern, and two dormers. Symmetrically placed stacks are present, and the roof is piended and platformed, covered with slate. The property is set behind simple cast-iron railings on the east side.
