Description
Cromalt is a 2-storey, 3-bay villa built in 1802, featuring a symmetrical classical design with single-storey wings. The exterior is constructed from rubble that is rendered and lined, with painted ashlar margins. It has a base course, cornice, and parapet, along with raised margins around the windows.
On the north (entrance) elevation, there is a pedimented doorcase with engaged columns at the center, leading to a fanlit two-leaf panelled door and a half-glazed vestibule door. The remaining bays are symmetrically arranged, with similar windows.
The south (rear) elevation consists of two storeys over a basement, with three bays that have regular fenestration, featuring smaller windows on the upper storey.
The east wing has a principal elevation with a single window bay linking to the main block and a slightly advanced pedimented bay on the outer left, which has a window set in an arched panel and acroteria at the apex. The east elevation features a deep bowed projection with three windows, while the south elevation has a slightly advanced pedimented bay with acroteria and a single window in the center. There is a single-storey flat-roofed projection between the wing and the main block, with a porch on the east face and two lancet windows on the south face. The outer left of the east elevation of the main block has blinded windows at both the ground and first floors.
The west wing mirrors the east wing on its north elevation. The west elevation features a bowed projection with three windows on the left and a flat-roofed block on the right, which includes a doorway to the left and a modern half-glazed addition to the right. The south elevation has a bowed projection with three windows.
The villa has plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate piended platform roof, and tall corniced end stacks with moulded cans.
The boundary walls and gatepiers are made of rubble, with painted quadrant walls flanking the piers that are capped with ashlar. The square-plan piers have corniced caps.
