Sw Wing, Coach House And Stable, Cromalt, 148 Clyde Street East, Helensburgh

The Coach House and Stable at Cromalt, located at 148 Clyde Street East in Helensburgh, dates back to the early 19th century. This gabled, five-bay structure serves as a coach house, stables, and granary, featuring a cupola. It is constructed from cream sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, showcasing raised margins, boarded doors, and quoin strips.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a taller gabled bay at the center. This bay includes a semi-circular-headed carriage arch with a granary opening above, all set within a slightly advanced panel that has a broken-pedimented gable, topped by a cupola. There are doorways on either side of the central bay. The end bays mirror the central bay's design, but one has a blocked door converted into a bipartite window on the right, with a glazed granary opening above. To the outer right, there is a single-storey, corniced, flat-roofed wing with a window in the center and a door on the return to the right (south). The cupola, which was replaced in 1991, is painted white and resembles a small circular temple on a square base, topped with a dome and weathervane finial.

On the north elevation, there is a window to the right, while the center and left feature a deep flat-roofed bow with a door facing west at the re-entrant angle. The building includes 12-pane sash and case windows as well as small-pane windows. The roof is covered with grey slate, and the skews are finished with ashlar coping.
