Tarandoun Cottage, Clyde Street East, Helensburgh

Tarandoun Cottage is an earlier 19th-century single-storey lodge located on Clyde Street East in Helensburgh, adjacent to the lodge for Rockland at the rear. The exterior is harled with cream ashlar dressings and features chamfered arrises and overhanging bracketed eaves.

On the entrance elevation, there is a doorway to the right, a window to the left, and a bipartite window further to the outer left. A timber mullioned and transomed window is positioned at the curved angle to the right (north), with a wall and gate pier located between the doorway and the curved angle. The north elevation facing Clyde Street East is blank. The cottage has diamond-pane glazing and a piended roof made of purplish-grey slate with red ridge tiles, along with corniced cream ashlar chimney stacks.

The boundary wall consists of red sandstone rubble, with harled walls that are coped with ashlar on either side of the gate piers. The gate piers are made of red sandstone ashlar, square in plan, corniced, and topped with ball finials. There are two-leaf iron gates.
