Description
Glenmalloch Lodge is an earlier 19th-century single-storey gabled cottage located in Cumloden. The building features rubble construction, snecked on the south elevation, with red sandstone ashlar dressings and a granite base course. It has raised chamfered margins with droved tails, long and short quoins, overhanging eaves, and cusped bargeboarding. As of 1990, the lodge was in dilapidated condition.
On the south elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a flush-panelled door at the center and a Tudor-arched window to the right. To the left, an advanced gabled bay features a half-piended canted window. The east elevation is gabled and includes a hoodmoulded tripartite window. The west elevation has a piended roof with a tall, substantial lozenge-shaped ashlar set-off stack rising from the ground, heavily corniced with incised serrated detailing on each face. There is a gabled timber summer-house adjoined to this elevation, with a door facing west and 6-bay Tudor-arched arcading on the sides.
The north elevation features a closet at the center with a cat-slide roof and doors to the east and west returns. An ashlar wallhead stack is located to the left of a lean-to, topped with a tall brick shaft. The building retains some remains of leaded diamond-pane glazing and is covered with graded grey slates, including a rooflight on the north pitch. The interior consists of two rooms.
