Description

Later 19th century. Single storey and attic gabled L-

plan cottage, former lodge to Belton House. Squared and

snecked stugged red sandstone with stugged grey ashlar

dressings. Chamfered arrises to openings.

N ELEVATION: 3-bay with gabled outer bay to right.

Doorway at centre in raised bay with shouldered lintel,

boarded door and blank square panel in gable head

above. Bipartite to right with penticed slab hood on

moulded corbels and single attic window in gablehead.

Single window in outer left bay.

W ELEVATION: broad gabled bay to left, with canted grey

ashlar window with overhanging piend roof, attic window

in gable above.

S (REAR) ELEVATION: simplified detail, lean-to

outbuilding adjoined in re-entrant angle.

E ELEVATION: single windows at ground and attic.

Small-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows.

Decorative timber pendants and paired eaves brackets to

overhanging eaves. Attenuated finials. Grey slates.

Coped cluster ridge stack.
