Description

Later to late 19th century. 3 identical pairs of single

storey, 3-bay cottages arranged in U-plan. Squared and

snecked red rubble sandstone with stugged ashlar

dressings; chamfered arrises.

ENTRANCE ELEVATIONS: doorway at centre of each 3-bay

cottage with gabled porch of decorative timber barge

boarding, rails, kingpost and columns. Boarded door

with strip fanlight. Porches flanked by bipartite

windows.

REAR ELEVATION: cat-slide roofs to projecting bays at

centre of paired cottages, with 4 windows; narrow light

flanking by re-entrants and single windows in outer

bays.

BLANK END GABLES: plate glass sash and case windows to

entrance elevations, with 4-pane and horizontal pane

glazing to rears. Timber eaves brackets to overhanging

eaves. Grey slate roofs. Coping to centre and gable

end ridge stacks. Some decorative gutter fixtures

retained.
