Description

Later 19th century. 3 single storey farm cottages designed on a

theme. Squared and snecked,stugged red rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings. 4-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows, shallow depressed arch lintels to doors, boarded doors with plate glass fanlights. Grey slates, stone corbels to eaves; timber barge

boards. Moulded coping to end stacks and some original cans retained. Single cottage: 3-bay. Gabled porch advanced at centre with kingpost and narrow window, door on return elevation; window in each flanking bay. Window on N gable end. Piend-roofed stone addition at rear, with later harled, pentice-roofed porch in re-entrant angle. Cottage pair:

5 symmetrical bays. Gabled bay at centre with windows; gablehead

stack. Doorways in flanking bays, set close to centre; windows in outer bays. Window to each return elevation, off-centre. Piend-roofed stone and harled projections at rear, as to single cottage. Retaining

walls: low, semi-circular coped rubble retaining walls.
