Description

The Balfour Monument, dated 1858, is located at Blaikie Heugh. It is an obelisk made of red sandstone ashlar, standing on a three-stepped plinth and a corniced pedestal. The monument features a memorial tablet dedicated to James Maitland Balfour, crafted from cream sandstone and adorned with an ornamented border. It was erected by the East Lothian and Berwickshire Yeomanry Cavalry.
