Description
The Monument to Henry Duncan, designed by architect James Raeburn and built by mason Alexander Crombie, was erected in 1846. This tall obelisk stands on a square base that features arched and vaulted elements, with a battered and corniced design. Each face of the base has a round-arched opening with an architrave and keystone, along with inscription panels on the frieze. The east and west faces have a block pediment, with the west face displaying a bronze medallion bust surrounded by a wreath. The entire structure is made of red ashlar.
