Description
Hetland Cottage is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay double-pile house featuring twin-gabled flanks. The rear (north) range is likely a late 18th or early 19th century house. It is constructed from rubble with stugged ashlar dressings and is whitewashed with painted margins.
On the south elevation, all the windows, which have shutter hooks, are bipartite casements with recessed wooden mullions and lying-pane glazing, a pattern that is repeated on most other windows. The first-floor windows are horizontal. The north elevation includes a central lean-to at the ground level with a panelled door and fanlight, while the first floor features sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The house has straight skews, corniced end stacks, and slate roofs.
