Description
The Dovecot at Denbie, dated 1775, is an octagonal structure topped with a lantern over a facetted roof. It is built from rubble with ashlar dressings, primarily whitewashed. The dovecot features a square-headed door with patterned iron hinges facing southeast, and a round-headed opening above with exposed margins and a dated keystone. There are two tiers of arcaded flight holes, with the upper tier made of timber and a fanlight above. The lantern also includes flight holes and four-pane windows on its elevations, with columns at the corners and a weathervane finial. The roof is slate with rooflights and is leaded over the lantern.
Inside, there are tiers of brick nesting boxes that reach nearly to the ground level, and there is no potence present.
