Description

The Old Schoolhouse in Dalton is a single-storey cottage that appears to date from the early 19th century, though it may include elements from an 18th-century school. Located at the southeast end of the village, it features three irregular bays and is constructed of whitewashed rubble with contrasting painted margins. The building has an off-centre boarded door with a rectangular fanlight, sash windows, and end stacks, all beneath a slate roof. There is a rear wing and a lean-to at the southwest gable, as well as a detached outbuilding to the northeast.
