Description
Dormont Grange is a house probably built in the last quarter of the 18th century. It is two stories high and has three bays, along with sympathetic additions. These include a near full-height wing set back on the north side and a low, two-bay, flat-roofed addition from the early 20th century that fills the re-entrant angle. The exterior is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar, painted with contrasting ashlar margins and cills. The windows are mainly sash with a 12-pane glazing pattern.
The original house features a well-preserved early 19th-century corniced square porch with clasping pilaster strips, centrally located on the main west elevation, with the door on the north face. The south flank has two bays, and there are corniced stacks that are asymmetrically placed, with the one on the south being modern. The roof is piended and platform style, covered with lead and slate, and has a wide slate easing. There is also a screen wall at the northeast that connects to a walled garden.
