Description

Nisbet Rhodes is a house from the earlier 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier materials, with later alterations and additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with single-storey wings on either side, creating a symmetrical and picturesque appearance. The exterior is finished in painted harl with painted ashlar margins.

On the southeast elevation, there is a gabled porch at the center of the ground floor, featuring a window to the southeast and a door opening to the northeast return elevation. Each of the flanking bays has a window on both floors, with first-floor windows breaking the eaves and each topped with a gabled dormerhead. The single-storey wings also have a window each.

The northwest elevation includes a single-storey lean-to addition at the rear of the three-bay group, which has a boarded door at the center flanked by windows. There is a modern glazed door in the outer left bay (wing) and a window in the outer right bay (wing).

The house features timber sash and case windows on the southeast, with four-pane upper sashes and two-pane lower sashes, while the other elevations display a variety of window styles. The roof is covered with purple graded slate and has rendered stacks at the gable apex of the two-storey section. There is a two-pane 19th-century roof light at the center of the northwest elevation, along with modern roof lights on the northeast wing to the southeast and northwest. The gableheads and porch gable have simple bargeboarding, with a timber finial on the porch. The wings have ashlar coped skews.

The interior was not seen in 1996.
