Description
Change House in Canna is a cottage built around 1800. It is a single-storey structure with a dormerless attic, featuring three bays and a south-facing façade made of whitewashed rubble. The cottage has a central door flanked by windows, end stacks, and a slate roof.
To the east of the cottage is a freestanding steading or barn, likely also dating from around 1800. This two-storey building is built into the side of a south-facing slope and has access to the first-floor barn from the slope. The steading is constructed of harl pointed rubble with a whitewashed front. It has two entrances on the ground floor, one of which has been enlarged. There is an off-rear entry with a winnowing door in the outer bay on the west side of the south elevation, which has been converted into a window. The north and south elevations feature two sets of long slit vents in the centre and outer (east) bays.
Inside the former byre on the ground floor, there is a cobbled floor, while the former barn has a boarded floor. Additionally, there is a late single-storey open-fronted implement shed extending from the west gable.
