Description
161 Feorlig in Spinningdale is an early 19th-century single-storey cottage with a dormerless attic. It features a three-bay design and is accompanied by a slightly lower single-storey and loft steading range, which is set back at the gable, creating a linear plan. The cottage is constructed from white-washed rubble, while the steading is made from rougher quality masonry, with the upper half of the steading gable covered in vertical weather-boarding.
The cottage has a central entrance that is obscured by a later gabled porch, which also includes a side entrance. It has small windows with 4-pane glazing and end stacks. The roof is made of red-painted corrugated iron and includes roof lights.
The steading features irregular bays with three doors and two small windows, one of which lights a former stable. There is a loft door in the end gable, and the steading also has a red-painted corrugated iron roof with roof lights.
