56 Church Street, Portsoy

56 Church Street in Portsoy is a cottage dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is a single-storey building with a dormerless attic and has its gable end facing the street. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted rendered margins. The north elevation features two wide bays, including an entrance with a double-leaf panelled door and flanking windows. The west gable facing the street has a pair of ground floor windows and a pair of smaller first-floor windows, with varied glazing patterns in the timber sash and case windows. The end stacks have been renewed, and the roof is covered with slate.

At the rear, there is an early 19th-century single-storey cottage made of rubble, featuring three bays. It has a central door and fixed 12-pane glazing in the flanking windows, topped with a corrugated roof.
