Description
38 Church Street in Portsoy is a house built around 1860. It is two stories tall with an attic and features a wide three-bay design. The exterior is made of coursed dark rubble, accented with contrasting tooled sandstone dressings and margins. At the center, there is a wide corniced entrance that includes a panelled door from around 1900, flanked by narrow sidelights and topped with a decoratively carved lintel supported by console brackets. On the south return gable, there is a single window on the first floor. The house also has three slate-hung wallhead dormers with pediments, dating from around 1900. The sash windows have eight panes of glazing, and the building is topped with a slate roof featuring pottery ridge tiles.
