Description
3 Institute Street in Portsoy is a building dated 1884. It features a 2-storey, 2-bay corner block with a return gable facing Church Street and a single-storey, 3-bay hall range that fronts Institute Street. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted concrete dressings. The doorway includes a letterbox fanlight, a flanking window, and a pair of first-floor windows, along with a datestone at the apex on Institute Street. The return gable to Church Street has paired ground-floor windows and a small bipartite window on the first floor. The windows, door, and corners exhibit long and short detailing. The building has 4-pane timber sash and case glazing. The 2-storey block has a piended slate roof, while the hall has a sated roof, and there are coped concrete end stacks.
