Description
This building, located at 40 and 42 Church Street in Portsoy, dates from around 1860 and is a two-storey house with a dormerless attic, featuring three bays and a shop on the ground floor. It is constructed from coursed dark rubble with contrasting tooled sandstone dressings and margins. The doorway for number 40 is situated in the right bay, while number 42 has a doorway flanked by large shop windows. On the first floor, there are three windows with 8-pane glazing, designed in sash and case style. The building has a corniced and panelled end stack, modern Velux roof lights, and a slate roof with a pottery ridge. There is a wing at the rear, and a modern single-storey harled garage extends from the north gable.
