Description
St John's Croft is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house with an adjoining single-storey outbuilding, which may have been a former cottage. The building features painted rubble with ashlar dressings, a base course, and raised margins.
The north elevation, facing the road, has a long façade with widely spaced bays. A central door with a letterbox fanlight is flanked by windows, and there is regular fenestration on the first floor under the eaves.
On the south elevation, there are single-storey additions in an L-plan shape, with a lean-to across the elevation that advances into a gabled projection on the right. A former stair window is partially blocked by these additions but is still visible at the centre. There is a first-floor window on the end gable to the east, with a 12-pane glazing pattern in the sash and case windows. The rear features modern glazing, and the roof is covered with Rubberoid tiles. The building has broad end stacks and a single-storey row with two doors, one window, and indications of blocked former windows on the north side. The west gable is blank, while there are further openings to the south, with a corrugated sheet metal roof.
