Description

10 St Leonards Bank is a Classical villa built around 1830, featuring two storeys and four symmetrical bays, with a central section that includes an attic storey. The building has been divided into two houses since around 1999. The east and south elevations are constructed of ashlar stone with raised margins, while the west and north elevations are finished with lined out render. Architectural details include a base course, band course, and cornice, along with a balustraded parapet on the two-storey sections. The windows have moulded architraves and raised cills, with pedimented architraves on the ground floor outer bays and some panelled aprons.

On the entrance elevation to the south, there is a central flat-roofed, balustraded Doric porch featuring a replacement part-glazed timber door topped by an 8-light fanlight. Flanking the porch are blind niches with blind openings above. The west elevation includes a later 20th-century central entrance with pilasters and a large round-arched, multi-paned stair window on the far right. Most of the windows are replacement 12-pane timber sash and case. The roofs are piended and covered with grey slates, and there are coped wallhead stacks on the central section.

Inside, as seen in 2009, the public rooms remain intact. An open-well staircase with shallow treads greets visitors at the entrance, featuring a decorative iron balustrade and timber handrail. The interior also showcases fine decorative plasterwork and some doors with corniced doorheads.

Boundary walls surround the property to the east, north, and south, with some to the west. These walls are made of coped rubble, with the eastern wall being lower and adorned with iron railings and a gate.
