Description

6 St Leonard's Bank in Perth is a Classical villa built around 1830. It is two stories high and has three symmetrical bays, with a single-storey wing at the rear on the west side. The principal elevation on the east is made of ashlar stone, while the other sides are constructed from rubble with ashlar margins. The building features a band course, a corniced top, and a blocking course. The windows have moulded architraves with apron panels.

On the principal elevation, there is a central door surrounded by an architrave, featuring a part-glazed entrance door and a rectangular fanlight above. The slightly advanced flanking bays contain tripartite windows at the ground level, which have stone mullions. The rear elevations include a metal band course with decorative bosses.

The windows are predominantly timber sash and case with plate glass. The roof is piended and covered with grey slates, and there are coped wallhead stacks along with cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, as observed in 2009, the original room layout is mostly intact. The staircase has decorative metal balusters and a timber handrail. The public room features timber dado panelling, and the kitchen contains a row of timber presses. Some of the fireplaces are made of timber, with one particularly notable example featuring a finely carved eagle motif and Corinthian pilasters. Decorative plasterwork is present, including cornices, ceiling roses, and consoles, with some windows having coloured glass margins.

Surrounding the house are coped rubble boundary walls on the north, south, east, and west sides. The eastern boundary wall is lower and includes railings and a central decorative iron gate. To the west, there are three square-plan gatepiers with base courses and cap stones.
