Description
13 Blacket Place is a classical villa built in the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a two-storey, three-bay building with a symmetrical rectangular plan, constructed of polished ashlar with coursed rubble sides. The villa features a base course, a dividing band course, a corniced cill course, a cornice, and a stone balustraded parapet, along with architraved windows.
The west entrance elevation showcases fluted Doric columns in front of pilasters that support the doorcase, with the cornice formed by a continuation of the cill course. It has a four-panel timber door with a plate glass fanlight, and there is a single window above and in both flanking bays on each floor. The cill course is advanced and supported by consoles above the ground floor windows. The recessed corniced wings to the north and south include a south wing that contains a two-leaf garage door with four glass panes above.
The villa has a shallow piended roof with shouldered and coped wallhead stacks, and features 12-pane lying-pane sash and case windows.
The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by a low coped boundary wall to the street, with large gatepiers at either end, and high coped rubble mutual boundary walls to the north and south.
