36 Blacket Place, Edinburgh

34 Blacket Place is a mid-19th century, two-storey classical villa with a symmetrical six-bay rectangular plan. The building is constructed from polished sandstone ashlar, which is channelled at the ground level, while the sides and rear are made of rubble. It features a base course, a dividing band course, a cornice, and a blocking course, with architraved windows on the first floor.

The northeast elevation, which serves as the entrance, has two central bays that are slightly advanced. It includes a paired doorcase supported by fluted Doric columns, with pilasters located behind the outer columns. The entrance features a six-panel timber door for No 34 and a four-panel door, two of which are glass, for No 36. Above the doors are plate glass fanlights, and there are two single windows on the first floor above the doors, as well as in both floors of the other bays. Corniced wings with pedestrian entrances are attached to the northwest and southeast sides.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is surrounded by low coped boundary walls along the street and at the sides. The roof is made of grey slate with a piended design, featuring mutual and wallhead stacks, the latter being coped and the former corniced. The windows are four-pane timber sash and case.
