Description
60 Cleveden Drive is a symmetrical classical double villa built around 1893. It features six bays, two storeys, an attic, and a basement, all constructed from polished ashlar stone that has been cleaned. The villa's windows have polished raised margins and transoms.
The central porch is a single storey with two bays, featuring architraved doorpieces on the east and west sides, a carved frieze panel, a bracketed cornice, and a blocking course. The ground floor windows include a frieze panel and triangular pediments, while the first-floor windows have bracketed cills, with a bipartite window above the porch. All windows are sash with plate glass glazing. There are band courses at the ground and first-floor cills, at the first-floor transom level, and at the lintels. The eaves have strings and a plain cornice.
The villa has steeply pitched and platformed slate roofs with tripartite pedimented timber-framed dormers. The flanks are made of droved ashlar, with windows detailed as previously described. On the west side, there is an external flight of steps leading to a first-floor flat, which is a modern alteration. Tall corniced wallhead stacks flank the tripartite dormer window.
The rear elevation features two single windows detailed as above, along with a balcony at ground level connecting to full-height five-light square bay windows, which are corniced and have a balustraded parapet. The dormers match those on the front.
The garden is enclosed by a low coped ashlar wall, with square corniced gatepiers that support cast-iron lamp brackets.
