Description

Circa 1887. Asymmetrical villa with classical details,

polished ashlar, painted base course. 2 storeys, attic and

basement. All windows architraved with stone transoms and/or

mullions, plate glass sashes.

To right, steps oversailing basement to paired Ionic

columned porch with die balustrade, pilastered doorpiece,

double-leaf outer doors. Vestibule doors tripartite with

painted glass panels.

At left, advanced bay with canted balustraded window to

ground, pilastered pedimented window to 1st. Band courses

over ground, at 1st floor cills and eaves, plain main cornice,

parapet to advanced bay broken by tall bipartite pedimented

dormer with stone finials. Steeply pitched slate roof, tall

decorative corniced wallhead and axial stacks.

Stugged ashlar flanks and rear. E flank with single storey

and attic projecting service wing with piended roofs.

INTERIOR: much altered during internal conversion to flats

circa 1980. Some good ceiling plasterwork and arched hall

screen.

Timber and cast-iron conservatory to W with tessellated floor.

Low coped ashlar wall with 2 pairs of square corniced gatepiers.
