Description
Tollbar Cottage North is an earlier 19th century single-storey tollhouse located on a slope, with a basement at the rear. The east elevation facing the road features stugged ashlar with polished margins, while the flanks and rear are made of snecked rubble. The building has a canted and crenellated three-bay centre, with a door in the outer right bay and sash windows that have a 12-pane glazing pattern. It includes a corniced central axial stack and a broad-eaved piended roof covered with graded slates. There is a sympathetic modern extension that is recessed on the left flank.
