Description
Tollbar Cottage South, located on High Street in Langholm, is an earlier 19th century single-storey tollhouse that is set on a slope, featuring a basement at the rear.
The eastern elevation, which faces the road, is constructed of stugged ashlar with polished margins, while the flanks and rear are made of snecked rubble. The cottage has a canted and crenellated three-bay centre, with the entrance door located in the outer right bay. It includes plate glass sash windows. The original axial stack has been removed, and the building has a broad-eaved, piended roof that is covered with graded slates.
