Description

Buccleuch House features a tower that dates to the early 19th century, although it includes earlier materials. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with a long wing set transversely that includes a full-height section and a vaulted basement, which is attached to the south gable that has a narrow gable facing the street. The exterior is pebble-dashed with painted ashlar margins, and there are end stacks and slate roofs. The doorway located in the third bay has stepped reveals and features a panelled door with a fanlight above it. The fourth bay contains a doubled ground floor window, while the first floor has plate glass sashes and the ground floor has modern glazing. There are also modern rooflights present. The long south elevation of the wing, which faces the garage, has undergone significant alterations around 1985.
