Description
Hawthorn Cottage is an earlier 19th century building that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey structure with three bays, accompanied by a single-storey, two-bay wing to the west, forming part of a terrace. The exterior features pebbledash with droved ashlar, and the south elevation is finished with harl-pointed rubble.
On the north elevation, there is a window at the first floor in the center of the three-bay arrangement, while the ground floor is blank. To the left, there is another blank bay, and to the right of center, there is a window on the ground floor. The single-storey wing has two windows grouped to the left.
The south elevation features a panelled door in the center of the three-bay group, with a two-pane rectangular fanlight above. Each flanking bay has a window at both the ground and first floors, with the first-floor windows breaking the eaves and featuring gables. The single-storey wing has a modern glazed door in the center and a later tripartite window in the bay to the right.
The windows throughout are timber sash and case, with 8-pane and 4-pane configurations. The roofs are slate, and there are 19th-century two-pane skylights on the south side of the wing. Brick stacks are present as well.
The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1995.
To the south, there is a boundary wall that is tall, pebble-dashed, and topped with round coping, featuring square-plan gatepiers.
