Description

Mid 19th century with later alterations; 1929 2-bay hall (to W end of terrace). Single storey, 3-bay hall linked to 2-bay group (Butterwell Hall), terminating terrace, with same eaves height as terrace. Squared and snecked stugged sandstone with stugged ashlar dressings. Rendered base course; eaves course to Butterwell (2-bay group) Hall.

S ELEVATION: gabled 3-bay hall to outer left, set back slightly from line of adjacent terrace with corbelled bellcote at apex and ball finial. 2 steps to flush door with rectangular plate glass fanlight above; window to each flanking bays.. 2 steps to door in W return of Butterwell Hall with letterbox plate glass fanlight above. Bipartite widow to each bay of Butterwell Hall with dated name and monograph plaque to centre.

W (THE GREEN) ELEVATION: 3-bay, grouped to left. Window to each bay.

N ELEVATION: not seen fully, 1995. Platformed addition to rear of Butterwell and Gavinton Halls.

Timber plate glass sash and case windows to Gavinton Hall. 4-pane timber sash and case windows to Butterwell Hall. Slate roof. Scroll skewputt to Butterwell Hall. Metal vents to ridges of Butterwell Hall and Gavinton Hall.
