Description

Butterwell Tigh West is a pair of terraced houses built around 1800, with later alterations. The buildings are two stories high and consist of six bays. They are constructed from cement-pointed sandstone rubble, featuring concrete rendered dressings, and have squared and snecked stugged sandstone with stugged ashlar dressings on the later addition. There is an eaves course along the terrace.

On the south elevation, each of the three-bay terraced houses has a deep-set modern panelled door at the center, set within a cement rendered doorpiece that includes a carved rose above the lintel. There is a window above each door on the first floor and a window on each floor of the flanking bays.

The north elevation is not fully visible as of 1995. It features smaller windows at the center of each three-bay house, with enlarged openings at the ground level in the right house to the east and in the center of the house to the west, both fitted with glazed double French windows or doors.

The first floor of the house to the east has timber plate glass sash and case windows, while the ground floor has 10-pane timber sash and case windows. The house to the west has uPVC hopper windows. Both houses have slate roofs and brick mutual stacks. The terrace includes scroll skewputts (which have been moved to the skew of Butterwell Hall) and a circular apex finial.

The interior was not seen in 1995.
