Description
5 South Forth Street is a pair of classical terraced houses built around 1815. They are two stories tall with a basement and feature two bays. The exterior is made of cream droved ashlar sandstone with polished dressings, and the ground floor is rusticated. There is a base course and a band course above, along with a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are regularly spaced, with fluted aprons on the first-floor windows. There are steps leading up to deep-set panelled doors in the inner bays, which have rectangular fanlights above them.
The basements have three bays with doors at the center. The windows are fitted with plate glass timber sash and case glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates.
The entrance features ashlar steps and a saddleback base for cast-iron spearhead railings.
